COLUMBUS, Georgia --- Biola Swim & Dive had a much busier day two to its NAIA Swimming & Diving Championship experience. The Eagles were in the pool all day swimming morning prelims and evening championships and put up quite an impressive performance.
 
The highlight of the day was a victory in the premier event of the championships, the 50-freestyle, by junior Lisa Tixier. Tixier came up just a touch short in the event a year ago and this time came out one-tenth of a second faster than her rival to win the event. Tixier's 23.01 is a new school record, by nearly a full second, and it is her third career individual national championship.
 
She will swim two more individual events at this championship and has a great chance to win both of those to compete for NAIA Female Swimmer of the Meet. This was her third-best chance to win of her three events, so the first-place finish is a huge deal.
 
In addition to Tixier's championship the Eagles got another All-American relay performance on day two of competition. Biola followed it's third-place in the 800-freestyle relay yesterday with a third-place finish in the 200-freestyle relay today. Haley Baker, Rebecca Brandt, Emily Silzel and Tixier combined for a 1:36.42 to place just behind SCAD and Olivet Nazarene.
 
The Eagles nearly nabbed another set of All-American honors in the women's 400-medley relay at the very end of the night, but came up one spot short in fourth place. Rachel Stinchcomb, Silzel, Tixier and Bethany Harper finished their 400 yards in 3:55.21 to finish just over one second behind Brenau, who claimed the final All-American spot in third.
 
On the men's side the Eagles earned points with a 12^th-place finish in the 200-freestly relay, Andrew Benson's 15^th-place finish in the 500-free (4:43.95) and another 12^th-place finish in the 400-medley relay.
 
The women also got points from Harper and Silzel's 10^th and 11^th place finishes in the 500-freestyle, Stinchcomb's sixth-place finish in the 200-IM and Baker's 16^th-place mark in the 50-free.

The women's team is in third place overall through the first two days of competition. They are 19 points ahead of fourth-place Brenau as they fight for the program's first-ever podium finish.
 
Friday's events include: 200-medley relay, 400-IM, 100-butterfly, 200-freestyle, 100-breaststroke, 100-backstroke and three-meter diving. Follow the action with live video at http://naianetwork.com/ and live results at this link.
