MONTEREY PARK, Calif. --- Competition continued at the Pacific Collegiate Swim & Dive Conference Championships on Thursday afternoon and it was a good, good day for the Eagles.
The headline of the day was the fantastic swim of
Lisa Tixier in the 50-freestyle championship. The junior won the Eagles' first-ever PCSC individual championship in arguably the most difficult event to win. She finished in :23.55 in the finals to beat the second-place swimmer from UC San Diego by just four-hundredths of a second. She was seven-hundredths of a second back after prelims and made up all that difference and more. Her championship-winning time set a new school record too. She broke her own record by 15-hundredths of a second.
During this second day of competition diving continued (Biola's
Nichole Landon and Torie Kuykendall made their debut), and the swimmers competed in the 500-freestyle, 50-freestyle, 200-IM and 200-freestyle relay.
Shane Brinson had the day off, but Landon and Kuykendall both competed in the women's 1-meter dive. They both finished inside of the top-20 in a large field of divers and will compete in the 3-meter later this weekend.
Biola's men also got some good swims in their 50-freestyle.
Daniel Vale and
Tom Franicevich finished back-to-back at 17
th and 18th and the Eagles took five of the eight spots in the 'C' final. Vale finished in :21.67 and Franicevich in :22.30.
Same as yesterday's competition the Eagles' top women's relay team finished ninth and the top men's relay team finished fifth.

Emily Silzel and Tixier completed the 200-freestyle relay in 1:38.65 to lead the women. Vale,
Matthew Roe,
Michael Severi and Franicevich completed their event in 1:29.54 to lead the guys.
After two days of competition the Eagles' women's team sits in eighth place overall with 167 points and the men are fifth with 220.
Due up for tomorrow's competition is more diving, the 400-IM, 100-butterfly, 200-freestyle, 100-breaststroke and 100-backstroke.
