PCSC Conference Meet Begins Tonight

Biola Swim & Dive has it's last stab at earning national cuts at the annual PCSC meet.

MONTEREY PARK, Calif. --- Over the course of the next four days at East Los Angeles College all of the Pacific Collegiate Swim & Dive Conference teams will compete head-to-head at the conference championship meet. For many teams this meet is the end of the road for their season. For Biola, it is one last chance to get onto the national team or add to each swimmer's events qualified for nationals.

The meet begins Wednesday and runs through Saturday. Results and recaps will be available on this site at the end of competition each day. Live results will be available for a small fee through the Meet Mobile App.

The PCSC Championships includes 21 men's and 21 women's events for a total of 42. The total includes the five relays for each division, as well as the one- and three-meter springboard diving competitions. The women will take the pool ahead of the men throughout the program. Preliminaries for the swimming events on Thursday, Friday and Saturday begin at 9:30 a.m., with evening finals at 4:30 p.m. on all four days.

The meet features swimmers from 13 different schools from the NAIA, NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III.

BIOLA IN THE NAIA
Biola has consistently been one of the top swimming programs in the NAIA. Because of that a lot of attention is put towards national qualifying times this week. The Eagles already have a deep national team this year, with lots of swimmers featured inside some of the lists of top times in the NAIA. Shane Brinson currently has the top scoring dive in the three-meter dive and ranks in the top-10 in the one-meter. He will be diving at this week's championship meet. Biola's women's team has top-3 times in the 200-freestyle relay, 400-freestyle relay, 400-medley relay and 800-freestyle relay and should compete well in the relays this weekend. Lisa Tixier should compete for NAIA Swimmer of the Year this year as she's got top-5 times in the 100-freestyle, 100-butterfly, 200-butterfly, 200-IM and 400-IM. Look for her to also be up near the top of some of these conference title races this weekend. Other Eagles with top-10 times in the NAIA are: Sophia Dammann, Raymond Kam, Emily Silzel, Bethany Harper, Rachel Stinchcomb and Sammy Dammann.
