SAN DIEGO, Calif. --- Biola Women's Golf improved by three strokes and one position on the leaderboard during a successful final day of competition at the Point Loma Reach Invitational Tuesday.
 
The Eagles saw their team score dip from 334 down to 331 and improved from 10^th place into a tie for ninth with California Lutheran University. The ninth place finish is a great showing for the Eagles in a talented 15-team field.
 
Freshman Tori Roeske and first-year transfer Jenny Zhang would utilize strong final rounds to finish tied with the top score among the Eagles' countable golfers. Roeske shot an 81 this morning and Zhang finished with a team-best 78 to finish tied with one another for 33^rd overall. They completed the 36 holes with 164s (+20).
 
Zhang's final round of 79 was powered by 10 pars and one birdie. She dropped eight strokes from the uncharacteristic score she began the tournament with yesterday. Part of the improvement could be accounted for by the slight improvement to the weather on day two of the tournament.
 
Bella Larson, yesterday's leading scorer, carded an 88 today to finish as the third-best Biola score. She completed the tournament in 45^th place and finished one stroke ahead of teammate Mary Karnazes who dropped one stroke to shoot an 84 today and end the tournament with a 169 (+25)
 
The tournament was a successful beginning to the spring season for the Eagles. They finished within four strokes of the seventh place team, University of Redlands, and two strokes back from eighth place Dixie State.
 
The Eagles are back in action Feb. 20-21 as they compete in Corona, California at the California Baptist Women's Invitational at Eagle Glen Golf Club.
