LA MIRADA, Calif. --- After another fantastic regular season under Head Coach Dr. Dave Holmquist, Biola Men's Basketball saw some of its players get rewarded and awarded by the Golden State Athletic Conference on Tuesday.
 
Dakari Archer earned his second All-GSAC recognition and Caelan Tiongson was honored for the first time in his four years as an Eagle.
 
Archer takes home his second all-conference honors after what's been an outstanding four-year career. He's considered by just about everybody to be among the top-3 players in the conference and was the conference's player of the year one year ago.
 
"Dakari has started every game since he's arrived as a freshman. The other team's key on him and he's still be around 14, 15, 16 points-per-game every year. He's an exceptional athlete," said Holmquist. "He's had so many big games in his career. He's just been a great player for us, and he's a great kid."
 
This season Archer averaged a team-high 15.0 points-per-game and moved himself up into second on the Eagles' all-time leading scorer list. He's less than 40 points away from 1,900 career points and he should definitely get to that with the Eagles' guaranteed to have at least two games left.
 
He's led the Eagles to an 88-38 overall record over the last four years, but there's still more work that he and his teammates would like to accomplish.
 
Tiongson nearly doubled his previous career-best scoring average this season as he finished second on the team with 13.5 points-per-game. He also averaged a team-best 6.1 rebounds-per-game to make him the total package as a post player for this Eagles' team.
 
The improvements he's made over the course of his four seasons in red and white have been remarkable, considering he's been battling difficult injuries pretty much the entire time.
 
Not only did his numbers give a huge lift on the court this season, but Tiongson is perhaps most valuable for the intangibles he brings as the extreme emotional leader of this team. While Archer stays even-keel and focused on what he needs to do to setup the Eagles' offense, Tiongson is the fiery instigator that helps this tough, physical Biola team get under the skin of their opponents.
 
"Caelan has show great improvement in the years he's been here. He's worked hard at it to improve and has become a good scorer this season, which made him a good all-around player. He's also a very good leader," said Holmquist.
 
This No. 7 Biola Men's Basketball team is back in action on Saturday night up at Westmont as the Eagles play in the GSAC Tournament semifinals against the winner of a first round contest between The Master's and Arizona Christian.
