ALISO VIEJO, Calif. --- The second meet weekend of the season took Biola Track & Field about as close to campus as it will get this year as the Eagles competed at the SOKA Indoor Qualifier just a short trip down the 5 freeway.
 
"We had a lot of really good performances today. We had a few race winners and also some PRs in races, which is always a great thing," said Head Coach Sean Henning. "I believe we will also have a shot at a few more qualifiers next weekend at Pomona-Pitzer."
 
The Eagles got six individual national qualifiers and qualified a relay team on the women's side. No men hit qualifying standards, but there were still plenty of strong finishes.
 
The women's 4x800m relay won its heat with a 9:28.20 and earned an 'A' national qualifying time with its effort. The team was comprised of familiar faces as it was Stephanie Chaires, Alisa Murray, Hannah Hunsaker and Lyndee Dawson. All four of them were a part of Biola's national team last year.
 
Two of those women, Hunsaker and Dawson, also added to their individual events to compete in at nationals. Hunsaker finished first in her run in the 1,000m (2:57.22) while Dawson completed the 5,000m in 18:05.19.
 
Dawson was one of three Eagles to surpass the qualifying threshold in the 5,000, The Eagles took 2^nd, 3^rd, 4^th, 6^th, 7^th, 8^th and 9^th in that event, which has traditionally been an area of strength for this team.
 
Emily Ransom (18:05.18) and Stephanie Croy (18:07.39) were the other two women to earn national cuts in the event.
 
In addition to its handful of 'A' qualifiers the Eagles got a pair of 'B' qualifiers outside of the distance events. Sarah Prystupa cleared 3.44m in the pole vault and Paige LaBare won the 60m dash with a 7.85 second sprint to make their case for a trip to Tennessee.
 
Biola got another event victory in the one-mile run as Melissa Ledesma had a strong showing. She edged out runners from Marymount and Saddleback College with a 5:23.82 to cross the line first.
 
Aditya Lal was the only male to win an event in a competitive field. He won the men's 800m with a 2:00.62. He beat out the second-place runner from Westmont by just under a second.
 
The men's DMR team of Robbie Gleeson, Brian Marcus, Lal and Miles Brubacher had a great showing too. They were just a hair shy of a nationals cut, completing the race in 10:26.16 and finishing in second place behind Westmont's top team.
 
The Eagles are back at it next Saturday at the Pomona-Pitzer collegiate all-comers meet. It is the team's final meet of the indoor season before the NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Johnson City, Tenn. the first week of March.
