Eagles Make A Mark On Day Three Of PCSC

Biola Swim & Dive records top finishes and adds to its nationals team on day three.

MONTEREY PARK, Calif. --- It was another busy day at the Pacific Collegiate Swim & Dive Conference Championships on Friday as the Eagles caught a handful of new national cuts and also had some strong overall finishes on day three of the meet at East Los Angeles College.

Lisa Tixier once again had the highest individual finish of the day as she placed fifth in the 100-butterfly. She completed the race in 56 seconds flat, touching the wall just two-tenths of a second back from the second place swimmer.

She was also a part of the 'A' relay team for the Eagles in the 400-medley relay. She combined with Rachel Stinchcomb, Rebecca Brandt and Emily Silzel to finish in 4:00.41 and finish in eighth place. The group finished one second back from a fifth place finish.

On the men's side, Daniel Vale and Raymond Kam both had impressive individual finishes. Vale was the Eagles' highest finisher in the 100-butterfly, touching the wall in :52.85 to finish 12th in the race. He just barely out-touched Kam who was just behind him in 13th with a :53.21.

Kam was impressive in another event as well. He managed to finish 12th overall in the 100-breaststroke, showing off his versatility. He recorded a 1:00.41 to finish right near the top of the 'B' consolation heat.

Kaylyn Schull had one of the best improvements of the day. She dropped four seconds from her prelim time in the 400-IM to finish 19th overall with a 5:09.77.

Sophia Dammann also competed in the 400-IM and recorded the Eagles' best finish in the event. She placed 14th with a 4:46.78.

In addition to the high places the Eagles saw a number of new national cuts made. The Eagles' 2017 nationals team is now up to 24 members.
