Lyndee Dawson Named NAIA National Runner of the Week

The senior runs 50 seconds faster than her All-American run of a year ago to impress the nation.

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Just one week into her senior season Lyndee Dawson has already staked a claim on the biggest weekly honor possible. The senior earned the NAIA Female Cross Country Runner of the Week following her first week of competition.

Dawson was extended the honor in recognition of her fantastic outing at Ted Craig Regional Park on Saturday morning. She led all NAIA runners with a 17:06 in the Eagles' home meet, the Biola Invitational.

"I am really proud of Lyndee and how hard she has been working," said Head Coach Sean Henning. "She has been a great leader for us in and out of running and it is great to see her recognized for a great performance."

The 17:06 5k was a whole 50 seconds faster than her All-American performance at the NAIA National Championship meet in 2015.

The national runner of the week honor is awarded to the runner voted on by a committee of NAIA Sports Information Directors and coaches.

Dawson and Biola are back in action on Saturday Sept. 17 at the UC Riverside Invitational.
