SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. --- The sun came up, and unfortunately so did the scores, during day two of the Art of Golf Classic hosted by the Academy of Art. Biola Women's Golf only shot three shots higher than it did during Monday's round, but that was enough to see the team move from fourth to sixth in the tournament standings.
 
Three of the five Eagles playing saw their scores drop from day one to day two, but that was not enough to keep the team score from going up just enough that Holy Names and Dominican were able to sneak on by BU to settle ahead in the final tournament listings.
 
The Eagles combined for a two-round total of 685 (+101) to finish three strokes behind DU and seven back from HNU. Biola was able to beat out one PacWest Conference school, Point Loma, and one Golden State Athletic Conference school, Hope International.
 
The host school won the tournament with a final tally of 621 (+37). The individual winner, Crystal Wang of the Urban Knights, shot a 150 (+4).
 
Biola's lowest score of the tournament came from newcomer Jenny Zhang. Zhang finished 15^th overall with a two-round total 163 (+17). She followed up her round one 79 with a round two 84. She shot nine pars and had one birdie during her final round, but also ran into trouble on a few holes between No. 6 and No. 10 to see her score grow a bit higher.
 
The highlight of the second day came courtesy another first-year player for Head Coach Jane Carr. Tori Roeske finished with a round two total of 88 and was the Eagles' second-lowest scorer for the tournament, 685 (+22 | 21st). Roeske put together one of the most impressive stretches on the course on Tuesday when she recorded a par on five holes in a row after a very difficult first hole of the day.
 
Biola's third, fourth and fifth overall scorers were Lauren Van Horn (172 | 26^th), Mary Karnazes (182 | 37^th) and Amanda Hobbs (205 | 42^nd). Karnazes (88), Van Horn (84) and Hobbs (102) were the three Biola players to see their scores go down during the second day of competition. Van Horn and Zhang tied for the team-low on Tuesday with 84s.

The fact that the Eagles' top two scorers were both new to the team this year is an encouraging sign. Carr also has a few more newcomers that did not make this trip that should contest to get inside of the top-5 over the course of the season and start to lower those team scores even more.
 
Biola Women's golf has its next tournament Oct. 24-25 at the CSU San Marcos Fall Classic hosted at Twin Oaks Golf Course.
