FLORIANOPOLIS, Brazil—Biola Men's Soccer is adding a standout transfer from Brazil who has spent the last two seasons with NAIA powerhouse Lindenwood University-Belleville. Yuri Cruz is a defender and midfielder who will join the Eagles this fall for two more years of eligibility.
 
At Lindenwood, Cruz led the Lynx to a 16-1-2 record along with regular season and tournament conference championships in his first year with the team. He earned a spot on the all-conference team and the academic all-conference team. He is expected to be a key piece in Biola's success next season.
 
In 2015, Cruz led his team to another conference championship and a spot in the national tournament where they lost in the semifinals. He hopes that his success will translate to the Eagles. He scored one goal and added three assists during his career with the Lynx.
 
"I wanted to move to a place where I could have new experiences and further my development as a player and as a person, all in parallel to my education," said Cruz. "In my opinion, Biola offers me the ways to do that. I am looking forward to joining coach Todd and the rest of them."


Cruz is a great student who has a cumulative GPA of 3.63. He is going to major interdisciplinary studies and hopes to one day play professional soccer.
