Biola controls shot count in scoreless road draw at Colorado School of Mines

GOLDEN, Colo. --- Biola battled Colorado School of Mines on the road Thursday, controlling much of the offensive pressure but ultimately settling for a scoreless draw at Stermole Soccer Stadium.

The Eagles held a decisive advantage in shot volume, out-attempting the Orediggers 16-3, including a 9-1 edge in the second half. Biola also earned 10 corner kicks to Mines' three, but could not find the breakthrough as the Orediggers kept the Eagles off the scoreboard.

Biola created opportunities throughout the opening half, with Eoin Kingsley, Jeremy Larson and Kyle Denn among those recording attempts. Ryan Ellsworth produced one of the Eagles' best chances in the 34th minute, forcing a save from the Mines goalkeeper.

The Eagles continued to apply pressure after halftime, recording nine shots while limiting Colorado School of Mines to just one. David Setters and Ian Pierra added second-half attempts as Biola continued to search for the go-ahead goal.

Biola's strongest push came in the closing minutes. Gauthier Caloz, Larson and Denn each recorded shots during the late stretch, with Denn forcing another save in the 88th minute. Kingsley added one final attempt in the 89th minute, but the Mines goalkeeper kept the Eagles off the board to preserve the scoreless result.

At the other end, Ethan Kell started in goal for Biola and played all 90 minutes, earning the shutout while facing three shots from the Orediggers. The Eagles' defense kept all three attempts off target, allowing Kell to finish the night without a save.

Biola moves to 0-2-1 on the season and faces Colorado Christian University on Saturday, September 5th at 10 a.m. PT (11 a.m. MT).
