Emily Mosbacher Named New Swim & Dive Coach

A Biola alumna takes over the reins as the new program director for swimming & diving.

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola University announces Emily Mosbacher as the fifth head coach in the history of its Swimming & Diving program. The Biola alumna takes the reigns from her former coach Associate Athletic Director Eddie Shepard.

Mosbacher returns to Biola after spending the last three years working as the head coach and program coordinator for the Peninsula Community Center Aquatics Club up in Redwood City, California.

"I am excited to lead the team, especially during this transition from the NAIA to the NCAA," said Mosbacher. "The program has seen a lot of growth over the past several years and I am excited to take us to that next level. I feel honored to be back at Biola as the coach. It is a special place."

Mosbacher was a member of Shepard's swim team from 2007-11 and then served as an assistant coach during the 2012-13 season. She qualified for the NAIA national meet all four years of her collegiate career and was a part of some record-setting relay teams.

In addition to swimming and coaching she also served as a TA in the Department of Kinesiology, Health and Physical Education during her time at Biola. She earned a bachelor's degree in physical education in 2013 and is currently working on her master's degree in teaching.

"We are very excited to have Emily Mosbacher join our athletics coaching staff," said Director of Athletics Dr. Bethany Miller. "She is someone that cares deeply about the student-athlete experience and has already done great work with swimmers at the college level and at other levels. We anticipate great things for the program with her in this position."

Mosbacher begins her duties immediately.
