SALEM, Ore.—Biola Women's Soccer has added a standout player from Oregon who has proven herself to be a potential force for the Eagles this fall.
 
Paula-Marie Labate is a forward and midfielder who attended West Salem High School. She is a decorated soccer player who is poised to have a great deal of success in her coming years for Biola.
 
"Paula is an attacker with a nose for a goal. She can play anywhere on the front line as well as in the attacking central midfield role," said Head Coach Erin Brunelle. "She has raw ability and we're hoping to shape her into a lethal attacker throughout her four years. She is eager to learn more about her relationship with Christ and we look forward to all that she will learn in the classroom and from the Biola community."
 
Labate is an elite player who played on varsity all four years of her high school career. She led the Titans in scoring and set the single season goals school record with 22 he junior and senior years.
 
She was an all-league second team selection as a freshman and then she followed that with three first team selections over her remaining years. She was recognized by the state as well as she was a two time all-state selection.
 
Labate was honored with the Salem Sports and Breakfast Club female soccer player of the year in 2015. She was voted team MVP and "most intense" by her teammates in 2015.
 
"Biola instantly became my first choice as it provides an excellent academic program, a competitive soccer atmosphere, and encompasses coaches, staff, and other individuals who genuinely care about you," said Labate.
 
Labate was named player of the week from multiple publications and was an excellent student. She was named to all-academic team four times, is a member of the National Honors Society, named to honor roll all semesters in high school and graduated Valedictorian of her class.
 
She plans to major in human biology with the goal of becoming a pediatrician.
