CANYON LAKE, Calif. --- Hali Oakes of Canyon Lake will be making her way to La Mirada to join the Biola Women's Soccer team in the fall of 2016.  Head Coach Erin Brunelle is excited for her to be an Eagle for her college career.
 
"Hali was highly recommended to us by her club coach at her Arsenal ECNL team," said Brunelle. "Hali attended our summer residential camp after her junior year of high school and was the most consistent player in the group, showing an improvement in ability and fitness as the week went on."
 
Oakes is center midfielder who was a member of the varsity team at Temescal Canyon High School for all four years. She saw early success being an all-league first team selection her freshman year and then twice more her junior an senior year.
She proved to be a leader being named team captain and team MVP during her junior and senior year.
 
"We hope to continue to develop her leadership qualities and look forward to where she will have the greatest impact on the pitch, either in the midfield or as an attacker," said Brunelle. "She exudes the joy, gentleness and love of Christ. She will thrive in the Biola community."
 
Oakes saw success on a bigger stage as well, being an all-CIF selection her junior and senior year and leading the Titans to a CIF championship her junior year. She plans to see the same success when she steps onto the pitch next season.
 
"I feel Biola offers me the best opportunity to grow not only academically and athletically, but also in my relationship with God," said Oakes.
 
Oakes was an excellent student being a four-year honor roll recipient and graduated fourth in her class. She plans to major in biology with a goal of becoming a physician's assistant.
