LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Since 2015-16 was such a remarkable time for Biola Athletics we decided to enlist the help of all of our faithful Twitter followers in deciding the year's top moments during a series of Twitter Polls this summer.
 
Rather that come up with our department's top-10 moments in some closed door meeting and then release them one by one we decided to come up with a top-16 list and then use these Twitter polls to narrow it down and see what you all think was the moment of the year.
 
Over the course of the next two weeks we will release a new Twitter poll during each business day that pairs a couple of our top moments head-to-head. The results of the fan vote will move one moment forward in the bracket with a chance to be the year's top moment.
 
We've selected 16 key happenings spread throughout the academic and athletic calendar that we think helped make 2015-16 as special as it was. The moments range from conference championships to big comebacks to individual national championship efforts.
 
Each morning we will post a brief preview of the day's matchups on athletics.biola.edu and then encourage those who follow us on Twitter to vote for their favorite moment.
 
Day 4 Matchups (July 14):
Women's Soccer Advances On Late Corner Kick vs. Volleyball Salvages GSAC Season With Win Over Vanguard
 
MOMENT 1: On top of a blanket of snow Biola and Eastern Oregon had played 56 scoreless minutes in the first round of the NAIA National Championship tournament. However, a looping corner kick from Adeline Saldana changed that scoreline in the 57th minute and handed Biola an improbable 1-0 victory at EOU. The corner kick goal sealed a 1-0 victory for the Eagles despite the 21-8 shot advantage the Mountaineers had in the playoff game on their home turf. Seven saves from Marina Rodriguez was key in pushing the Eagles through to their first NAIA Final Site appearance since 2004.
 
MOMENT 2: Biola Volleyball opened the 2015 season with 15 wins in a row and had itself ranked No. 1 in the NAIA when the pesky Lions from Vanguard knocked the Eagles off the top perch with a 3-1 victory in Costa Mesa early in the conference season. Biola's chance to avenge that loss came on the final day of the conference season during the Eagles' senior night at Chase Gymnasium. Vanguard came into that matchup with an unbeaten conference record and the conference championship already in tow. The Eagles came in with a 13-2 mark and looking to play to role of spoiler. It was a dominant performance from start to finish for BU as they cruised to a 3-0 win over the Lions in front of a packed home gym on senior night. It was the perfect moment to propel the Eagles into national competition.
 
Baseball Turns Season Around in March & April vs. Women's Track Regains GSAC Championship
 
MOMENT 1: At the end of February 2016 Biola Baseball had a record of 5-14. The Eagles got off to a hot start before losing 14 of their next 16 to find themselves in a bit of a bad spot a little over a month into the year. However, as some starting pitching began to gain consistency the team began to soar over the next month. Biola went 13-4 through the month of March and with a 18-18 overall record were now looking forward to what the rest of the season would hold in store. Ultimately, this run kickstarted the most successful baseball season for the program since back in 2011. The Eagles ended up with 31 victories, a .534 winning percentage and a deep postseason run that inspired hopes of big things to come for Biola Baseball in 2017.
 
MOMENT 2: 2014-15 was not a highlight year for Biola Track & Field and Cross Country. It was a strong year, but not the kind of success the program is used to consistently experiencing. 2015-16 was a complete turnaround and return to form. The event that sealed the deal on this season was when the Eagles won the women's GSAC Championship by 1.5 points over Westmont. It became Biola's third GSAC Championship in the last four years in women's track, but it was the first since 2014. This win went a long way towards solidifying Biola's national ranking and helping earn the title of the NAIA's top women's program from the USTFCCCA.
