LA MIRADA, Calif.— For Biola's student-athletes the summer is a time to work on their fundamentals and to remain in a competitive mindset for the upcoming season.
Jimmy Gallarda of the Eagles' baseball team has taken advantage of this and is having great success this summer. Gallarda will represent his So. Cal Catch team in this year's California Collegiate League All-Star game on Wednesday night.

The So. Cal Catch is a summer league baseball team that allows college baseball players from across the country to compete in the off-season against other elite players while also growing their relationship with the Lord and to be successful wherever they may end up.

Gallarda is one of four Catch players to be selected for the all-star team and is the first player to represent Biola in this prestigious game. This season for the Catch, Gallarda has pitched played in the field, but he has really made his mark as a premier pitcher in the CCL.

Gallarda leads all Catch pitchers in innings pitched with 29.2 innings and is third in the CCL in wins (3) and ERA (2.04). Along with playing in the all-star game, Gallarda will also have the privilege of participating in the prospect showcase in front of MLB scouts today at 3:00 p.m.

The all-star game takes place at 7:00 p.m. at the MLB Urban Youth Academt in Compton and will be televised on Fox Sports Prime Ticket.
