COSTA MESA, Calif. --- Paige LaBare will go a long way toward Head Coach Sean Henning's continued efforts to grow his sprint program. She was a three-sport athlete at Costa Mesa High School and is no stranger to the busy schedule that accompanies being a collegiate student-athlete.
 
"Paige will add a competitive and driven mindset to our sprints program, and that is exactly what we need," said Henning. "She is a very raw talent, and once she gets in our system and adapts to the training the sky is the limit for her."
 
LaBare was a four-year varsity track athlete and four-year varsity cheerleader and she also competed two years on varsity golf. She was a scholar-athlete for each of her varsity seasons and was the Mustangs most valuable track athlete each for seasons.
 
She will focus on the 100-meter and 200-meter at Biola. She's quite familiar with these events as she won the league championship in each two times during her high school career. Her success extended past just league play as she made CIF prelims all four years and CIF finals twice.
 
The on-field achievements of LaBare were celebrated in 2016 as she was named the Class of 2016's most athletic member. She was also the president of that senior lass and a three-year president of the National Scholastic Skateboarding League.
 
"Paige loved her experience at Biola when she came to visit and I knew we were immediately one of her top choices. She will be a great fit at Biola and I am looking forward to watching her grow and be challenged in her faith in the Lord," said Henning.
 
LaBare is one of the best track athletes in the history of Costa Mesa High School. She finds herself in the top-10 all-time lists in the 100m, 200m and 400m. Her 25.4 in the 200m is second all-time.
 
She is the youngest of three sisters and she spent her time growing up going to the meets of her older sisters and passed both of their top marks from Costa Mesa High School.
 
Her sisters will definitely be following her ascent as she looks to set some more personal-bests and program-bests during her time at Biola.
 
"The moment I stepped on campus I could see myself being a part of Biola," said LaBare. "I like the small community and the people who are so welcoming."
 
LaBare's journey at BU begins this fall. She plans to study human biology and hopes to have a career as a pediatric cardiologist.
