Biola and Menlo split the season series with three wins each. The Eagles finished fifth in the conference with a 15-15 mark against GSAC opponents. The Oaks finished just one game ahead in fourth place with a 16-14 conference mark.
Â
The Eagles held the advantage in the most recent series between these two teams. Biola took two of three from Menlo in a series at Eagles Diamond in the middle of April. BU's only loss in that series was a 7-8 loss in the opener after the Eagles' blew a late lead.
Â
For the season series the Eagles hold a slim 41-38 advantage in runs scored. That puts the teams on an average of nearly seven runs-per-game each in what's been a high scoring series so far.
Â
However, pitching always tends to prevail in the postseason, so it will be interesting to see how the arms stack up in this opening round battle. The Oaks feature an all-conference pitcher in Ashkhon Kuhaulua, but Biola managed to get the victory both times he started against it during the regular season.
Eric Diomartich will likely get the call for Head Coach
Jay Sullenger at 9:00 a.m. on Monday morning.
Â
A win would mean Biola faces No. 1 seed Westmont at 3:00 p.m. on Monday afternoon. A loss puts the team down in the consolation bracket and has it play again at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday. A team in the consolation bracket has to win five games in a row to win the tournament title.
