Sojourner Finds Her Way To Biola

Emily Sojourner joins Biola Track & Field after spending four years hurdling at Ramona High School.

RAMONA, Calif.--- The Eagles have added an in-state athlete to the track program who plans to come in and compete in the fall.

Emily Sojourner is a standout athlete at Ramona High School where she lettered for four years on varsity track and three years for the basketball team. She has committed to join the Eagles and to continue her track career under Head Coach Sean Henning.

"Emily will be a great addition to our team and will be a fantastic spiritual leader during her time here at Biola," said Henning. "I believe Emily fits in extremely well with our group of girls and will develop into a great hurdler for us. I'm excited to watch her develop over the course of her time here at Biola."

In her four years at Ramona High School, Sojourner competed in the 100m and 400m hurdles. This past season she broke the school record for the 100m hurdles, a special moment in her stellar career.

Sojourner will graduate with a GPA above 4.0. She was recognized by the Union Tribune for excelling in the classroom while balancing the extra work that being a student-athlete entails.

"I chose Biola because of the overwhelming presence of Christ I feel when I walk onto campus and because of the incredible fellowship available here," said Sojourner. "I have always wanted to attend a Christian university so I am excited to grow closer to God and live among like-minded peers throughout my college experience."

Sojourner intends to major in kinesiology and her career goal is to work with the special needs population.
