IRVINE, Calif. --- Keeping the connection to Servite High School alive Biola Men's Basketball signs Cameron Griffin to join the team for the 2016-17 season.
 
Griffin is a power forward that earned two all-conference and All-CIF first team nods during his seasons with the Friars. He played one year of varsity with current Eagle Trevor Treinen.
 
"Cameron has the potential to become a very good player," said Head Coach Dr. Dave Holmquist. "He's a little undersized for his position in terms of height, but he has a very strong body and is a fine athlete."
 
Griffin had a chance to show off that athleticism recently at the Open Gym Premier All-Star Dunk Competition. He wowed the judges and those in the stands as he won the entire competition back in March.
 
"His jumping ability, strength and ability to move well will create mismatches against other forwards that may be taller but are less agile," said Holmquist.
 
His all-league honors came during his junior and senior seasons as he led the Friars to 31 victories over those two seasons. He averaged 15.1 points-per-game and 8.4 rebounds-per-game during a stellar senior season that carried him to a place as a collegiate basketball player.
 
Griffin is also a strong student as he maintained a 3.0 GPA throughout his high school career and earned two All-Academy League honors. He intends to major in international business and eventually start his own business once he's done with school.
 
"Cameron is a good student and has strong Christian character," said Holmquist. "He is a great fit for our University in all respects."
 
Griffin graduates from Servite HS this spring and will join the Eagles on the court later on this fall. Join us at Chase Gymnasium as he looks to be the latest Friar to make an immediate impact as an Eagle.
 
"I felt like Biola was a great place where I could meet new people and continue my dream of playing basketball at the college level while being able to maintain Christ as the centerpiece in my life and at my school," said Griffin.
