Eagles Drop Hard-Fought PacWest Clash

Brown’s 19, Parrish-Tillman double double lead balanced effort in narrow loss

COSTA MESA, Calif. --- The Biola men's basketball team visited their PacWest opponent the Vanguard Lions inside the Freed Center for Leadership. The Eagles fell to the Lions, 67-61.

Cameron Brown continued to find ways to the basket, scoring 19 points and collecting five rebounds. Tyus Parrish-Tillman secured yet another double-double with 11 points and 15 rebounds. Facundo Aranda tacked on 15 points, including three made threes. Charlie Gehler and Leyton Martin combined for 12 points and nine rebounds.

Defense led the first half for both sides. Each of Biola's five starters scored at least three points, led by Brown with eight and Aranda with seven. After trailing for the first 13 and a half minutes, the Eagles were able to temporarily hold the lead, going into the half down 31-27.

The Eagles trailed for the final 20 minutes, trimming the gap to as little as three. Brown, Aranda, and Parrish-Tillman combined for 27 of Biola's 34 points in the second half. Free throws proved to be the difference as both teams made 10 field goals apiece and shot 27 percent from three.

With the loss, Biola moves to 13-13 overall and 9-11 in PacWest play. Two more regular season games will take place in Chase Gymnasium starting with the CUI Golden Eagles on Feb. 26 at 7:30 p.m.
