Men's Track & Field

Regular Season Ends With A Few Races At Westmont

Biola Track & Field sent a very small contingent of runners to the Westmont All on the Line Invitational.

Aditya Lal set a new personal-best in his 800m race at Westmont.

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. --- Biola Track & Field traveled back to the site of its recent Golden State Athletic Conference Championship this past Saturday as its members competed in the All on the Line Invitational.

This was the final meet of the regular season for Head Coach Sean Henning's squad as they competed for the last time before leaving for the NAIA Outdoor National Championships at the end of this month.

The Eagles also had one student-athlete compete at the Harry Marra multis, also at Westmont, but she did not record a complete heptathlon to place in the results.

A small contingent of student-athletes competed at the All on the Line Invitational as some Eagles attempts to gain national qualifying times and book a trip to Alabama. Emily Ransom was one such student-athlete as she finished second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, set a new personal-best by 10 seconds hit the automatic qualifying threshold with her 11:14.

Ilima Kung appeared in that same race and finished third as she competed for the final time in a Biola uniform.

"I am very proud of all that she has done for the program, and  I am very grateful for her leadership on our team this year," said Henning.

Hannah Hunsaker hit the provisional standard again in the 1,500-meter (4:40) and Stephanie Chaires ran another strong race in that same event with a ninth-place finish and a 4:46.

The only other event that any Eagles competed in was the women and men's 800-meter races. Aditya Lal completed his first season with the team with a seventh-place finish (1:54) and Jessica Yee placed 11th on the women's side with a 2:37.

"Adi ran pretty good in the men's 800 and ran a personal-best," said Henning. "He did not hit a qualifier but gained valuable experience that will really help him next year. I was happy with our races, and I'm excited for the next week and a half as we get ready for Nationals."

The Eagles head to Gulf Shores, Alabama for outdoor nationals from May 26-28.
