JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. --- Head Coach Sean Henning's bunch continued competition at the 2016 NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday and earned its first All-American honors of the year.
 
The women's 4x800m relay finished fifth in the finals as Hannah Hunsaker, Michelle Clark, Lyndee Dawson and Kellian Hunt combined to post a 9:17. The team was competing in the finals because of the efforts of Clark, Dawson, Hunsaker and Alisa Murray on Thursday evening.
 
"Our women's 4x800 team rallied despite not being at full strength to finish 5th and All-American," said Henning. "I'm really happy with where our women's team is at going into the finals on Saturday."
 
Nicole Falkenstein finished higher than her seeding to take home her fifth career NAIA All-American honors with a seventh-place finish in the women's pole vault. The senior cleared 3.62m to finish five levels behind the national champion from Eastern Oregon, Talitha Fagen.
 
"She showed a lot of veteran experience and determination in getting over a height or two on the last attempt," said Henning.
 
The only other event of the day that saw Biola singlets in the field of competition was the 1,000m run. Henning had two competitors in the women's race and another two in the men's race as his team was attempting to get as many student-athletes qualified for Saturday finals as possible.
 
Hunsaker put up a 3:01 in the women's race to finish eighth and claim the final spot in Saturday's finals. Murray also ran in the women's race and finished jut three seconds behind Hunsaker in 13^th place.
 
Biola's men finished back-to-back as Wes Noyes and Andrew Daedler went 19 and 20 in the men's race. Noyes finished with a 2:37 and Daedler finished with a 2:39 as neither could quite make it up into the top-8 to qualify for finals.
 
"Wes and Andrew gained valuable experience from this nationals trip that will help them immensely in outdoors," said Henning. "They both ran excellent legs on the distance medley relay on Thursday, so look for big things from them during the outdoor season."
 
Tomorrow marks the final day of indoor competition. David E. Walker Track at Gentry Field will host the finals in the 1 mile, 60m hurdles, 400m, 600m, 60m, 800m, 1,000m, 3,000m, 200m, 5,000m, DMR, 4x400m relay, triple jump, shot put, and high jump during this final day.
 
"The goal is to have as many people as possible competing on Saturday," said Henning. "We have nine ladies competing in six events, and we are confident that all of them are going to perform well and contribute to the team's success."
