LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola Men's Tennis brought a five-match winning streak into the Biola Tennis Center as it hosted the Vulcans of Hawai'i-Hilo on Wednesday afternoon.

It was quite a match as the teams traded match wins back-and-forth throughout as the Eagles looked to steal a come-from-behind win headed into the final doubles matchups. Unfortunately the team fell just shy in a 4-5 loss to UHH.

Hawai'i-Hilo built a big lead coming out of the singles matchups by getting wins at No. 1, No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 singles. The Vulcans took that 4-2 advantage into a pressure packed doubles set where Biola had its back against the wall and needed wins in all three matches to steal a win.
The dagger came when the Vulcans gutted out a three-set win at No. 4 singles in the only singles match to need a third set.
Joe Turnquist took a win in the first set but dropped sets two and three as his opponent found new life as the match dragged on.

Strong play from
Lucas Lee and
Luke Mountain at No. 1 doubles and
Michael Vartuli and
David Garcia at No. 3 doubles helped the Eagles push the envelope, but the Vulcans got an 8-4 win at No. 2 in the second match off the court to clinch the heartbreaking win.

The loss drops Biola to 9-8 on the season. The win helps Hawai'i-Hilo to a 3-8 record. The Eagles are off until next Monday when they host Middlebury College at 2:00 p.m. in the Biola Tennis Center.
