LA MIRADA, Calif. --- La Mirada offered some cool, breezy weather to the New Mexico natives visiting from the University of the Southwest on Tuesday afternoon. The visiting Mustangs did not take too well to the climate as Biola Women's Tennis worked a dominant 8-1 win.
 
The win helped Biola snap what was a five-match losing streak in the past five played matches. It's technically the beginning of a new winning streak as the Eagles tack this win onto a win by default after a San Diego Christian forfeit on Saturday.
 
Head Coach Dee Henry got some fantastic play up and down her lineup throughout the match as the Eagles took two of three doubles matches to begin the day and then swept singles in a dominating display at the Biola Tennis Center.
 
Madeline Heer and Kelsey Post got their team-leading fifth double win with an 8-3 victory at the No. 1 spot. Kathryn Ashford and Brooke Sanford had the most convincing win of the afternoon with an 8-1 victory that had them first off the court with plenty of time to rest and prepare for singles.
 
That duo definitely looked well rested when it came time to play singles. Ashford and Sanford each earned straight-set wins at No. 2 and No. 3 singles. Sanford was again the first one off the courts with a 6-1; 6-1 win over Nicole Salinas that set the tone for Biola's 6-0 performance in singles.
 
All five other student-athletes earned a straight-set victory with only three of the sets needing an extra game or a tiebreaker.  Taliah Hightower had to work hard in order to earn her third singles victory of the year. She won a tiebreaker 9-7 in her first set to set her up for victory heading into her 6-2 win in set two.
 
The Eagles improve to 5-11 on the year with this latest win. University of the Southwest drops to 1-7. Biola's season continues on Wednesday as it hosts Hawai'i-Hilo at 4:30 p.m.
