LA MIRADA, Calif. --- With five of the seven winter sports completed, Biola University maintains its spot at the top of the 2015-16 Learfield Sports Directors' Cup NAIA Standings.
 
The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today.  Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 12 sports in the NAIA-- six women's and six men's.
 
Biola led all NAIA institutions with 313 points in the fall, which extended the Eagles a 60-point lead over the second-place institution, Southern Oregon. Strong performances from men and women's swimming & diving and men and women's indoor track & field has Biola at the top of the ranks yet again through one of the two winter rankings.
 
Head Coach Eddie Shepard's swim & dive program combined for 134 total points with fourth-place and 12^th-place national finishes. That point total is more that 92 institutions on the list had across all of their sport offerings.
 
Head Coach Sean Henning's women's indoor track & field program finished 10^th in the nation to earn 60 points for the university.
 
Through the first half of winter Biola has received points from five women's programs (swim, indoor track, cross country, volleyball and soccer) and three men's programs (swim, cross country and soccer).
 
The Eagles anticipate earning points from men's basketball, which is currently ranked No. 3 in the country in order to maintain its top spot in the rankings in the final winter rankings. The final winter Directors' Cup standings will be released March 24.
 
Biola currently holds a 42-point lead over the second-place institution, Wayland Baptist.
