LOS ANGELES, Calif. --- Biola Women's Tennis lost its third-consecutive match on Tuesday evening as the Eagles suffered a 6-3 defeat at the hands of the Occidental College Tigers.
 
Oxy lost two of the three doubles matches at home before taking five of the six singles matches away from Biola en route to the second win of the season for the NCAA Division III Tigers.
 
It was an unconventional lineup for Head Coach Dee Henry as her squad took on their Los Angeles-based foes without Kathryn Ashford and Susan Carmichael.
 
The difference was not immediately noticeable as the Eagles took wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles in relatively convincing fashion.
 
Madeline Heer and Kelsey Post continued to play well together in order to grit out an 8-6 victory at the top of the doubles pecking order. It was the pairings third doubles win of the season, with all of coming at the No. 1 position.
 
The other doubles victory was courtesy a brand new No. 2 pairing. Katie Boesl and Brooke Sanford got an 8-4 victory in their first time playing together at No. 2. Overall they are 3-1 together this year.
 
The Tigers earned a decisive victory at No. 3 doubles and posted fairly decent margins in four of their five singles wins.
 
Kelsey Post cruised past her opponent at No. 3 singles as she earned a 6-0; 6-0 straight-set victory. She was in control from opening serve until match point in order to work her way to 4-4 on the season. It was her first match as Biola's No. 3.
 
Heer would step in at No. 1 for coach Henry and put in an epic effort against Oxy's Samantha Ferrell. Heer matched her almost game for game as she suffered a disappointing defeat in the second-to-last singles match to finish. Heer would lose her first set 6-4 and dropped the second one 7-5.
 
Biola falls to 2-6 after this loss, which is the first against a NCAA Division III opponent during the 2016 season. Occidental improves to 2-4 with its second win over an NAIA program. The Tigers previously won a 6-3 match against Hope International.
 
Next on the schedule for coach Henry's squad is a home match against those Hope International Royals at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1.
