LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Jessie Burns and Keaton Kerr find themselves among a very distinct group of student-athletes as they've been selected as 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans.
 
The pair found a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-American College Division second time for their respective sports, women and men's soccer.

It is both players' first career Academic All-American honors, but both have received multiple Academic All-District awards in the past.
 
Sophomores, juniors and seniors are eligible to be named CoSIDA Academic All-Americans if they maintain a cumulative grade point average of higher than 3.30 and are a contributing member to their team's success.
 
Burns, a senior forward, earned the honor because she worked a perfect 4.00 GPA while pursuing her degree in psychology. She was also one of the best players on the pitch for the Eagles over her four-year career, including a 2016 season where she finished third on the team with 15 points after scoring seven goals and helping the team to a 15-2-2 overall record.
 
She was the only Golden State Athletic Conference women's soccer player to earn Academic All-American honors in 2016 and is the second player in the history of the Biola Women's Soccer program (Morgan Aukshunas – 2013) to earn the award.
 
Kerr, a junior forward, earned his first Academic All-American honor because he also has a perfect 4.00 GPA while pursuing a degree in business administration. He is also the lone recipient from the GSAC on the men's side.
 
Kerr saw his role on the field increase this season and took full advantage of it. He played in all 17 of Biola's matches and compiled more than 700 minutes on the pitch. His previous career-best was 294 minutes.
 
He ended the year with two goals and an assist and helped lift the team into the GSAC Tournament and a final record of 10-6-1. It is the sixth winning season in a row for Biola Men's Soccer.
