SIOUX CITY, Iowa --- Biola Volleyball's season came to a close in Sioux City for the ninth and final time on Friday afternoon. The Eagles finished the year 26-11 following a 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-16) loss to No. 3 Hastings (Neb.) in the NAIA National Championship Round of 16.

The Eagles gave the Broncos all they could handle in both of the first two sets and got off to a hot start to the third set, but ultimately fell in straight sets to a Broncos team that is now inside of the NAIA's final four along with Park, Midland and Dordt.

Hastings hit .352 in the match and just had more arms than the Eagles superb defense could handle after a long, grueling week at this tournament. Biola was just a step behind the Broncos in blocking and serving, which kept the games close but ultimately gave the higher-ranked team the edge.

The stretch of play that sealed the deal came in the middle of the third. The Eagles had gotten off to  a hot start to the set by blocking really well and was in it as late as 14-14, but Hastings won 11 of the final 13 points to advance to the next round.

It was the final match of the careers of Olivia Sorensen and Tori Moons as both seniors will be graduating shortly. Sorensen ended strong with three kills and four digs, while Moons compiled 13 assists and four digs.

Karly Dantuma and Brooke Watts led the Eagles' attack with seven kills apiece.

The Eagles finish the year at 26-11 and have officially closed the book on the program's NAIA era. As of this afternoon the team is officially operating as a NCAA Division II program. In 2017 Head Coach Aaron Seltzer's program will compete in the PacWest Conference and be back with familiar foes Azusa Pacific, Concordia-Irvine and California Baptist.
