LA MIRADA, Calif. --- For the second time this season Biola Women's Basketball is set to travel to a NCAA Division I institution to play an exhibition game. The Eagles (8-3) will face the Long Beach State 49ers (6-4)Â at 7:00 p.m. in the Walter Pyramid.
This is the fourth all-time meeting ever between these two programs. The 49ers have won all three previous meetings. The game will not count towards Biola's season record, but it will be a countable contest for the 49ers. Long Beach State in currently riding a three-game winning streak, and the Eagles have also won their last three contests.
This is the 49ers' only game against a NAIA opponent this season. This is one of three NCAA Division I exhibitions for Biola this season.
The closest area of comparison between these two teams is the 44-41 contest between LBSU and Pepperdine. The Beach got a narrow win over the Waves in what was their second contest of the year. That same Pepperdine team faced the Antelope Valley Pioneers just two weeks before and lost 76-72. Biola beat that UAV team, 87-70.
Biola will have a slight height advantage in the post this evening with
Sara Dougan's 6'4" frame and
Joclyn Kirton's 6'0" frame going up against LBSU starters that are 6'1" and 6'0".
