Lisa Tixier Earns Second NAIA Swimmer of the Month Honor

Lisa Tixier holds two top times and is in the hunt for at least three others as she earns a national award.

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- For the second time in her young collegiate career Lisa Tixier has been selected as the NAIA Women's Swimmer of the Month. Tixier last earned this honor in the first installment of the national award for the 2014-15 season.

This is also the first installment of the award for the 2016-17 season. The honor is released three times in each season, with the first honoree being recognized for all of their swims from the start of the season in October through mid-December.

Tixier was chosen for the honor over 10 other student-athletes submitted from all across the NAIA.

She currently holds the top time in the NAIA in the 100-butterfly (:55.72) and the 200-IM (2:04.05). Her lead in the 200-IM is over three seconds and is nearly two seconds in the 100-butterfly.

She's also logged times that fall into the top-10 in the nation in four other events. She is second in the country with a :51.55 in the 100-freestyle, third in the country with a 4:40.63 in the 400-IM and fourth in the NAIA with a 2:10.54 in the 200-butterfly. Her other top-10 time is a seventh-place mark in the 100-breaststroke.

Tixier is in her third season with the Eagles and is continuing the momentum she's built over the previous two seasons. She was in the conversation for NAIA Women's Swimmer of the Year last year (after her older sister won it the previous two seasons) and will definitely be in that same conversation this year, which will be her final time swimming in the NAIA.

Biola Swim & Dive is on a brief break from competition for the holiday season, but its schedule will resume with a quad-meet against Azusa Pacific, Concordia-Irvine and SOKA at SPLASH! Aquatic Center on Jan. 21.
