LA MIRADA, Calif. --- As the linchpin in two very impressive Eagles wins against Azusa Pacific and William Jessup, junior guard DeMoria White has been named GSAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week. This is the second time White has received this honor after being named GSAC player of the week on Jan. 18 last season.
 
"DeMoria is a basketball player to the core and our team really benefits from her willingness to embrace leadership responsibilities," said Head Coach Alan Nakamura. "As a team I think we had success this week because we really moved the ball around all five players and Mori did an excellent job of converting her open opportunities to lead us in scoring."
 
After scoring 34 and 18 points in Biola's two games this week, White has lifted her average point total to 19.9 points per game for 2016-17. Specifically, White made use of her teammates' screens to create space for three pointers and exploited breakdowns in the opposing defense to find scorers in the paint.
 
The Inglewood, Calif. native shot .528 from the floor in 67 total minutes last week and converted an impressive five three pointers in 11 attempts during the Eagles' first GSAC conference game on Saturday. White has now led the Eagles in scoring eight times through their first 10 games.
 
Biola Women's Basketball will return to action on the road Friday, traveling to Long Beach State for its second exhibition of the year against an NCAA Division I opponent. The game begins at 7:00 p.m.
