LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola Athletics has always been known for helping its athletes reach their full potential on the field of play and in their classroom, while being with them as they pursue God.
This fall was another example of the hard work that the staff, faculty and student-athletes put towards the academic side of that journey as the Eagles' fall teams combined for 20 NAIA and Golden State Athletic Conference Scholar-Athlete honors.
Each fall team had at least one student-athlete that was honored with this scholar-athlete recognition, while the soccer teams, cross country teams and volleyball combined to give the department 19 total scholar-athlete winners
In order to be considered a scholar-athlete by the GSAC and the NAIA the student-athlete needs to be an eligible varsity student-athlete that is at least a junior and has a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
Biola's 20 fall scholar-athletes puts the department at first place in the GSAC in total recognitions. The next closest in number was Arizona Christian with 15 and then three institutions tied with 11.
