LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola Volleyball went 1-0 in Golden State Athletic Conference play between Sept. 25 and Oct. 1, while Biola Women's Soccer also stayed perfect with a 2-0 mark. The team performance was exceptional on both sides, but two particular student-athletes rose to the top and were honored with conference weekly awards.
 
Alyx Dunham, a freshman outside hitter on the volleyball team, earned GSAC Attacker of the Week after an 18-kills performance in Biola's three-set sweep of San Diego Christian.
 
Bri Mikalson, a junior defender, earned GSAC Defender of the Week while helping lead the Eagles to two shutout wins and scoring the game-winning goal in Biola's 1-0 win over No. 10 Vanguard in the NAIA Women's Soccer Match of the Week.
 
It is the first-ever conference weekly award for both of these student-athletes. It is Biola's second women's soccer defender of the week and first volleyball attacker of the week award for the 2016 season.
 
Dunham's dominant performance against San Diego Christian included 18 kills on a nearly .600 attacking percentage and helped lead Biola to its 28^th win in a row over the Hawks.
 
Mikalson scored in the 17^th minute of the match to help the Eagles earn their ninth win of the season and improve to 3-0-1 in GSAC matches. Biola sits alone atop the table heading into this new week.
 
Women's Soccer is on the road for the next three weeks and does not return for a home match until its senior night on Oct. 22.
 
Biola Volleyball is back in action with a home match on Tuesday night against Vanguard. The Eagles finished behind the Lions in the GSAC standings a year ago and are looking to settle that score.
