SAN MARCOS, Calif. --- Biola Women's Golf finished off the second of its three fall tournaments on Tuesday morning by completing the final 18 holes of the CSU San Marcos Fall Classic at Twin Oaks Golf Club.
 
The Eagles slid back a few spots after placing fifth through one round and ended up with an eighth-place team finish. Biola followed up its round one 320 with a 329 during Tuesday's round to complete the tournament at +73 overall.
 
Biola was the highest finishing Golden State Athletic Conference team in the field as Menlo and Hope International finished 12^th and 13^th, respectively.
 
Just as she did on day one, newcomer Jenny Zhang led Biola in scoring during the second round. The transfer from High Point completed her tournament at 150 (+6) after shooting a 76 on Tuesday. She would tie for sixth place on the individual leaderboard.
 
Tori Roeske (159 – T20th) and Bella Larson (168 – T44th) were the Eagles' second and third best finishers, just as they were after day one of competition.
 
The encouraging happening during the second round was the improvement of the Eagles' fourth and fifth scorers. Both Lauren Van Horn and Mary Karnazes dropped strokes between yesterday and today to get closer to the scores we are accustomed to seeing from the returning players.
 
Van Horn shot an 87 on day one and improved to 85 today to complete her tournament at 174 (+30) and finish in 52^nd place. The junior shot six pars and a birdie during her final round to help improve her scores. She made the par-three hole 17 in two to earn her lone birdie.
 
Karnazes made an even larger improvement as she went from a 93 yesterday down to an 86 today. She would finish the tournament at 181 (+37) but should be very pleased with the way she rebounded on Tuesday after a challenging first day. She recorded five pars on day two to keep her score down.
 
Head Coach Jane Carr should be pleased with the potential she's seeing out on the course from her group. The team dropped nearly 40 strokes in this tournament from the numbers it put up in early-September at the Art of Golf Classic. Also, coach Carr had a few extra student-athletes make the trip to compete as individuals. There were some impressive scores among those unattached players that could qualify them to compete at an upcoming tournament and lower the Eagles' team scores even more.
 
The Eagles are back in action on Nov. 21-22 at the Arizona Christian Firestorm Fall Invite. That will be the team's final fall tournament and is hosted at Moon Valley Country Club in Phoenix.
