LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Leading the undefeated Biola Women's Soccer team to two shutout wins and compiling five saves in an overtime win over the No. 4 team in the country was enough to lift Christina Rodriguez to the NAIA & Golden State Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week awards.
 
Rodriguez wins the conference weekly honor for the first time this season. She's not the first Rodriguez to win the award for Biola, as her older sister Marina Rodriguez won the honor two times during the 2015 season.

Her win of the NAIA Women's Soccer Defender of the Week makes her the first Biola Women's Soccer player to earn national honors since Morgan Aukshunas won the same award back on Oct. 15, 2013.
 
The younger Rodriguez recorded her fourth and fifth shutouts of the 2016 season in a 1-0 win over No. 4 Westmont on Oct. 5 and a 4-0 win over San Diego Christian on Oct. 8. It became her third and fourth shutout victories in a row as the No. 12 Biola Eagles have been absolutely steamrolling opponents as of late.
 
For the season Rodriguez has an 11-0-1 overall record as she's played all but 66 minutes between the pipes for the Eagles. She's allowed just five goals in 12 contests and has helped the team remain one of just five undefeated teams left in the NAIA.
 
She and the Eagles have the entire week off from competition, and then they return to Golden State Athletic Conference play on Wednesday Oct. 19 at Hope International.
