CHINO, Calif. --- Biola Men's Basketball has its first commit for the 2016-17 school year in local guard Tyus Dennis. Dennis is a three-point machine who will transfer in from Chaffey College after a remarkable career at Ontario Christian High School.
Â
He played three seasons at OCHS and currently holds the school record for most three-pointers in a single season (73), most 30-point games in a season (6) and most three-pointers in a single game (9).Â
Â
"Our coaching staff believes that Tyus will be a very good player at Biola," said Head Coach
Dr. Dave Holmquist. "He's an excellent fit for our team and the university. He is a serious student, a strong Christian and a fine basketball player."
Â
Dennis was the team MVP, team captain, was selected to the all-area team and earned two all-league honors during his high school career. He also was honored with a selection to the Inland Empire All-Star game where he competed against the top talent in the IE. He won the player's choice award for his 9-point performance in that game.
Â
He averaged over 20 points-per-game during his three varsity seasons before spending this school year at Chaffey.
Â
"I chose Biola because of the loving environment and how everyone was so inviting and cared for one another," said Dennis. "I believe that God has a plan for me here as a Biola Eagle, not just as a student and basketball player, but as a person growing in his relationship with God."
Â
Throughout high school Dennis was a member of the National Honors Society. He plans to study psychology when he arrives at Biola for the 2016-17 school year.
