LA MIRADA, Calif. --- The Eagles Athletic Association and Biola Baseball are pleased to announce the annual Biola Baseball First Pitch Dinner to be held Jan. 21, 2016 in the Andrews Banquet Room on the campus of Biola University. Highlighting the event this year will be special messages from the Los Angeles Dodgers' star first baseman, Adrian Gonzalez, and team chaplain, Brandon Cash.
This is the second year that Head Coach
Jay Sullenger has hosted an elegant preseason dinner to introduce the team, bond with friends and family of the program and hear special remarks from key people from the Christian baseball community. The cost is $65 per adult and $25 per child (12 and under). The cost includes a special dinner, the messages from Gonzalez and Cash and an autograph session.
All proceeds go towards ongoing Eagles Athletic Association projects that directly benefit the student-athlete experience on the Biola Baseball team, including scholarships and the team's ongoing ministry efforts. The link to register and pay can be found above. For questions, please contact Denise Migeot at (562) 906-4597.
Gonzalez just completed his 12th major league season and his third complete season with the LA Dodgers. He is a four-time Rawlings Gold Glove award winner and two-time Silver Slugger. His most recent award wins came in the 2014 season. Gonzalez is well-respected around Major League Baseball and has been selected to the All-Star game a total of five times throughout his career.
Cash was the keynote speaker at last year's Biola Baseball First Pitch Dinner and has become a great friend of the program. He spends his days performing services and praying for the Christian community in the Dodgers organization, including Gonzalez, Clayton Kershaw, AJ Ellis and more. He is connected to Biola as an alumnus of Talbot School of Theology ('98). He is also a current faculty member.
