Series Finale Slips Away

Biola unable to complete comeback in 9-6 loss

FRESNO, Calif. --- The Biola baseball team concluded its four-game road trip against the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds on Saturday afternoon. Despite multiple bases loaded opportunities, the Eagles lost game four, 6-9.

Jacob Talbott got the start for BU, dealing one and two-thirds innings, allowing six hits and three runs. Taj Brar took over for Talbott and got the final out of the second inning. Nathan Hernandez came in and recorded an out, giving up three runs on two hits and two walks. Christian Trejo followed Hernandez, allowing three runs to cross the plate, only one earned. Valentine Lopez and Erick Felix combined for two and a third shutout innings.

Adiel Torres put Biola on the board in the fourth with a long home run over the left field wall. The Eagles put three runs across in the fifth after a hit from Luke Caruso, a fielder's choice from Jonny Tewinkle, and a walk to Reef Danner. 

In the sixth, Tewinkle and James Whitman brought Biola to within three, but it wouldn't be enough. The Eagles drop the final game of the series, 6-9.

With the loss, Biola moves to 5-7 overall and 1-3 in conference. They will return home to Eagles Diamond to face Menlo College on Feb. 20 at 11 a.m.
