Wentz Dominates Game Three

Biola holds off late surge to defeat Fresno Pacific, 4-3

FRESNO, Calif. --- The Biola baseball team faced the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds for game three of a four-game series. Behind a brilliant start from Blake Wentz, the Eagles won 4-3.

Blake Wentz got the start for BU. Wentz dishes five innings of shutout baseball, allowing only four hits, no walks and striking out two. Aidan Cube threw one inning of relief, giving up two runs on one hit and walking three. Wyatt Nichol came on in relief, dealing two shutout innings.

The offense came early as James Whitman lined a single to short in the third inning, scoring Kevin Villegas. In the fourth, Josh McAninch hit a sacrifice fly to center field, driving in Adiel Torres, giving BU a 2-0 lead.

A two-run seventh gave the Eagles a 4-0 lead, a lead they wouldn't relinquish. Jonny Tewinkle lined an RBI single to second, scoring Luke Caruso. Whitman knocked in his second RBI of the day on a base hit up the middle, scoring Nick Madole

After FPU came back to score three straight, Dylan Alanis came in and recorded his first save of the season.

With the win, the Eagles improve to 5-6 overall and 1-2 in conference play. They will hope to tie the series in their final game of a four-game series.
