Box Score LANCASTER, Calif. --- Biola's chances at improving to 2-0 seemed in jeapordy from the very start on Saturday morning with an early penalty kick opportunity, but just over a minute later all doubts began to fade as Biola piled on for its 6-1 victory.
 
The Pioneers had a penalty kick opportunity in the third minute, but JT Addington came up with a massive save in order to keep Biola from falling behind in the opening minutes.
 
Just 30 seconds later Joey O'Keefe found the back of the net to open up the scoring with his second goal of the season.
 
After that goal Biola ramped up the pressure on the Pioneers over the next 20 minutes. The Eagles' defense kept Antelope Valley without a shot all the way into the 26^th minute when they had their first opportunity off a corner kick. Sandwiched into that 20-minute span came six different Biola opportunities that fell by the wayside.
 
A few minutes after the Pioneers' flurry of chances came Biola's second goal of the game. Devin Leon and Leo Contreras teamed up to get the Eagles a 2-0 advantage. It was the second time this season Contreras has setup a goal for Biola's speedy winger.
 
Just inside five minutes from the end of the half Antelope Valley's pair of brothers, Emerson and Henry Rogue, connected to get the Pioneers' lone score of the afternoon.
 
It seemed as if that would be the final tally of the period, but Kousei Mattox found his way into the attacking third with just over a minute remaining in the half and buried one. It was the first goal of his collegiate career and helped Biola take a 3-1 lead into the locker room.
 
Head Coach Todd Elkins mixed up his lineup a bit heading into the second half, bringing in True Tamplin to start the second half when he did not start the first.
 
It turned out to be a wise decision as Tamplin found Jarrett Pugh 13 minutes into the frame to extend the Eagles' lead yet again. It was Pugh's first goal of the season and made the game begin to look locked up.
 
This caused tensions to rise on the pitch, which resulted in a double yellow card scenario just under a minute after the goal was scored. UAV's keeper was given a yellow card less than a minute after that, marking the Pioneers' fourth caution of the game.
 
That yellow card allowed a free kick from good distance for Leo Contreras. Contreras does not miss when an opportunity to score presents itself, so naturally he took advantage of this chance to convert his second goal of the season.
 
After this tally, UAV started to take control of possession and had two more good opportunities to convert before the game concluded, but it failed to convert either of them, missing wide.
 
The Eagles converted on the one chance they did have to score. Daniel Martinez got on the score sheet for the first time in his career when he drove one home in the 83^rd minute to complete the scoring efforts on the afternoon.
 
Biola improves to 2-0 with the win and dropped Antelope Valley to 0-1 on the year. The Eagles are back in action Sept. 2 at 7:00 p.m. when they host Marymount College.
