HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. --- Head Coach
Aaron Seltzer has had his eye on Ally Forsberg for quite some time, recruiting her since her sophomore year in high school. After spending one season at CSU Fullerton, Forsberg committed to join Seltzer and Biola Volleyball for the next three seasons.
Â
"Ally is just a quality girl," said Seltzer. "This is a perfect fit for her and I'm really excited to have her. We had interest in her early on, but it was not meant to be. Now it is meant to be."
Â
The 6-foot-3-inch middle blocker appeared in 25 matches for the NCAA Division I team, seeing time in 75 sets in her freshman season. Forsberg had 32 kills, 28 blocks and 20 digs in her first year against collegiate competition.
Â
Prior to that she was a standout at Huntington Beach High School for all four seasons. She led the Oilers to the CIF playoffs in each of those four seasons and garnered tons of individual attention along the way, getting named a "Player to Watch" by the OC Register twice.
Â
Her name is littered all over the Oilers' record books, as she is the team's all-time leader in games played and blocks after leading the team in blocks during three of her four high school seasons. She earned All-Sunset league first team and all-county honors in 2012 and 2013 and was given the captain's award in 2013.
Â
Her stats were eye-popping, especially in her final two seasons as an Oiler. In 2012 and 2013 combined she had 429 kills, 182.5 blocks and hit over .465. Before graduating in 2014 she was honored with the Roy Miller Athletic Excellence & Commitment Award for her high school.
Â
Outside of dominating inside of the gym, Forsberg was definitely no slouch inside the classroom, making the honor roll all four years and graduating as a Scholar with Expertise.
Â
She's got years of club volleyball experience playing with the 18s Club H VBC and leading them to junior Olympic berths in 2011, 12 and 14.
Â
"I chose to come to Biola because of the smaller school and the volleyball team and coaches," said Forsberg.
Â
She begins at Biola this fall and plans to study kinesiology with hopes of entering a career in athletic training.
