#TBT: Starbeck's Senior Night GWG

Miranda Starbeck scored a game-winning goal 110 minutes in on 2014 Senior Day.

Miranda Starbeck scored one of her five goals in 2014 on senior night, securing a 1-0 overtime win.

SENIOR NIGHT HIGHLIGHTS

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola Women's Soccer had a historic season in 2014, winning 13 games, which is the most for BUWS in a single-season since the 2004 squad posted 16 victories.

Senior Captain Miranda Starbeck had a huge role in the success of the Eagles on the field this season, contributing five goals and four assists to finish third on the team with 14 total points.

Two of those 14 points held some extra significance as the senior netted an overtime game-winner to secure Biola's 1-0 victory over San Diego Christian on Senior Night on Oct. 22.

It was 110 minutes into a 0-0 game when Amanda Lillicrop found Starbeck across the box at the back post and the senior was able to bury it in the back of the net to give Biola a walk-off win and its 12th victory of the season.

"It was kind of one of those crazy moments where everything is happening all at once and you don't even know until that ball is in the back of the net that you scored," said Starbeck. "Especially on Senior Night, it is really big to score a goal like that. It is just a feel-good win."

That goal helped the Eagles slide into a tie at the top of the conference standings. That positioning late in the season helped Biola secure an opening round playoff game at home for the first time since 2012.

Biola went on to win that opening round matchup against No. 20 Concordia, 3-0, to get to the historic 13th win of the year. Fittingly, the final goal of that playoff game, and ultimately of the season, came of the foot of Starbeck.

Stay tuned throughout the remainder of the summer for Throwback Thursdays as we relive some of the major moments of the 2014-15 school year, possibly including the Men's Soccer Senior Night, which also had some late-game heroics.
