ESCONDIDO, Calif. --- Brian Marcus graduated from Calvin Christian High School this spring and decided he did not want to leave beautiful Southern California. In order to stick around for at least four more years Marcus committed to join Biola track & field.
 
"The welcome that I received at Biola was overwhelming," said Marcus. "The puzzle pieces all just fell into place and the relationships that I have formed, and will continue to form at Biola, are very important to me."
 
He is a 6-foot-3-inch sprinter and hurdler that comes to Biola with an impressive resume of school records, a team MVP honor and a few top finishes at CIF meets.
 
Marcus ran track and cross country in high school, but he also kept himself busy by playing basketball and soccer. He was the recipient of the sportsmanship award given out by his cross country coaching staff.
 
In his time as a Crusader, Marcus broke the school record in the 200m (22.99), 400m (50.81) and the 4x400m relay. He was also a three-time CIF Finalist and a two-time CIF Medalist. His best finishes at the CIF meet came in 2015 when he won the 300m hurdles and was a part of the runner-up squad in the 4x400m relay.
 
Marcus earned all-league honors as a junior and senior and was also awarded the student-athlete honor twice. He made honor roll all four years of high school and is a member of the National Honor Society. In addition, he was awarded the Ronald Reagan Student Leader Award his sophomore year and was a Union Tribune Commended Scholar Athlete as a senior.
 
Marcus begins classes at Biola this fall and plans to major in business. His father was a collegiate diver and he's got two younger siblings.
