CANOGA PARK, Calif. --- Terrell Funches is the all-time leading scorer at Chatsworth High School despite spending just two seasons on the varsity squad. The versatile guard commits to play for Dr. Dave Holmquist at Biola after spending the last three years at various colleges around the country.
 
Funches graduated from Chatworth in 2012, concluding a high school basketball career that saw him score 1,355 total points and win an MVP award after averaging 23.4 points-per-game and 8.9 rebounds-per-game as a senior.
 
He led his team to a 2011 city championship and in 2012 earned all-league first team and all-city first team honors while earning a spot in the Valley Sports Foundation Senior All-Star Game.
 
"He is a dynamic player who has a knack for putting the ball in the basket," said Assistant Coach Julious Coleman. "He is very athletic and should come in and make an immediate impact for us."
 
Once his time with the Chancellors was done he played two seasons at Pierce College in Los Angeles. Here he was designated as one of the top-100 junior college players in California after averaging 20.9 ppg and 6.9 rpg as a sophomore.
 
He again led a team to a championship as the Brahma Bulls won the Western State North Conference Championship in 2012-13. In 2013-14 Funches was named to the all-conference first team.
 
He spent this past year playing for former Biola Eagle Bryan Weakley at NCAA Division II Texas A&M International. Funches appeared in 28 games for the Dustdevils, averaging 21.3 minutes-per-game and shooting at a 46.7 percent clip from the floor. He averaged 9.1 points-per-game and 3.7 rebounds-per-game in his one season in Texas.
 
Funches is majoring in kinesiology and plans to enter a career in the Los Angeles Probation Department or as a physical education teacher. He begins at Biola in the fall of 2015.
 
"I chose Biola because I can grow in my faith with God and play college basketball with a talent he has blessed me with," said Funches.
