LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Four Biola Track & Field student-athletes were named to the Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District teams on Friday.
 
Three of those four are currently competing at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships. CoSIDA combines cross country and indoor/outdoor track & field into this one spring release.
 
Brandon Berz was the lone male recipient of the honor, posting a 3.88 cumulative grade point average as a business administration major. He qualified for, and is competing in, the men's 3,000m steeplechase at the 2015 outdoor national meet. He also appeared in four cross country meets this season.
 
Brooke Arvidson, Nicole Falkenstein and Sarah Pfaff each earned the academic honor for the women's program. It is the first academic all-district honor for each of the three student-athletes.
 
Arvidson and Falkenstein are both in Gulf Shores, Alabama competing at the NAIA Outdoor National Championship meet this week. Falkenstein is seeking her fourth NAIA All-American honor in the pole vault, and Arvidson will seek her second as a part of the women's 4x800m relay team.
 
Falkenstein is a junior kinesiology major with a cumulative grade point average of 3.92 through a fantastic first five semesters. Arvidson is a junior liberal studies major with a 3.97 cumulative grade point average. Both student-athletes will have another chance to earn this academic honor again next season.
 
Pfaff is a key contributor to the Eagles' cross country team. She's gone to the NAIA Cross Country Championship meet in each of her first two seasons with Biola. She competed in all but one meet on the 2015 schedule and should be a leader on the team next year as a junior. She is a sophomore communication disorders major with a perfect 4.0 grade point average.
 
Biola led the Golden State Athletic Conference with its four honors. Westmont had one student-athlete honored, and Concordia also had one student-athlete on the list.
 
These academic all-district athletes go onto the ballot for cross country/track & field Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-American consideration. In order to be eligible for the all-district and all-american honors student-athletes must be a sophomore, junior or senior with a cumulative grade point average above 3.30 and be a key contributor to the team's athletic success.
 
The Capital One/CoSIDA Track & Field/XC Academic All-Americans are released June 22.
