LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola Tennis had three players earn Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors for their work in the classroom throughout the 2015 season. Tayven Townsend, Kathryn Ashford, Susan Carmichael and Lauren Vogel each received the academic recognition.
 
In order to earn NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors the student-athlete must be a junior or senior with a cumulative grade point average at or above a 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
 
Townsend was the Eagles' lone representative from the men's team, winning his first career NAIA Scholar-Athlete honor during his senior season. He was Biola's No. 1 player throughout the season, compiling a 6-17 record in singles and a matching doubles mark (all in the No. 1 spot). Townsend is a senior business administration major.
 
The trio of women's tennis players to earn the honor share four total NAIA Scholar-Athlete nods between them, as Vogel wins the award for the second time in her career.
 
Ashford was named All-GSAC for the third time in her career following another stellar season out of the No. 1 position, and she claims her first NAIA Scholar-Athlete nod. Ashford is a junior studio arts major.
 
Carmichael partnered with Ashford in doubles play for most of the season, compiling a 7-13 doubles record with her. She also had a 7-13 overall singles mark, primarily playing in the No. 3 position. It is Carmichael's first NAIA Scholar-Athlete Honor. Carmichael is a junior English major.
 
Vogel appeared in 22 singles matches and 23 doubles matches during her final season as an Eagle. She posted seven doubles wins (all at No. 3) and seven singles wins (all at No. 6). Vogel is a senior communication studies major.
 
These four could help their teams be named NAIA Scholar Teams, which will be released in about a month.
