Groeschell, Stevenson Earn Academic Honors

Rob Groeschell and Garrett Stevenson awarded GSAC Scholar-Athlete honors.


LA MIRADA, Calif. --- A total of 30 Golden State Athletic Conference baseball and softball players have earned GSAC Scholar-Athlete honors.  Two of those 30 honorees play at Biola. Rob Groeschell and Garrett Stevenson represent the Eagles on the baseball scholar-athlete list.
 
To qualify, an athlete must be a junior or senior academically and have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or greater. 
 
Groeschell is working on his MBA and earns his second GSAC academic honor of his career. He appeared in 45 games this season with 43 starts in the outfield. He leads the nation in fielding percentage, committing zero errors in 77 chances this year. He also hit .293, scored 24 runs, got some innings on the bump and reached 100 career hits this year.
 
Stevenson earns GSAC Scholar-Athlete honors in his first year on the team. He is a junior computer science major and right-handed pitcher. He made five appearances this year for a total of 4.1 innings on the bump.
 
Biola still leads the GSAC in total Scholar-Athletes for the 2014-15 school year.
