NAPA, Calif. --- Josh Semple is a stud in the pool and out of it, spending four years on varsity water polo and swim and four years combined as a team captain while maintaining a 4.0 grade point average at Vintage High School.
 
He'll bring his many talents with him to Biola beginning in fall 2015 as he joins Biola Swimming & Diving.
 
"Josh comes to us with a great water polo and swimming background," said Head Coach Eddie Shepard. "As a very diverse athlete I think he will have a lot of things to bring to our program in terms of depth, leadership and work ethic. I look forward to seeing how his swimming develops, and I am excited he has committed to swimming with us at Biola."
 
Semple was a standout water polo player from the very start at Vintage. He was a three-time team captain for the Crushers and was a 2013 USA Water Polo Junior Olympic participant. He led the team to the section championships and earned all-league, all-county and all-section recognition. Oh, and he's an Eagle Scout, the student body president and president of the Students For Christ Club.
 
His swimming accolades include: four years on varsity, one year as captain and was a sectional qualifier on relays all four years.
 
"I'm looking forward to a Christ-centered education," said Semple. "I fell in love with the atmosphere and people after the first visit. I felt right at home and knew it was the right place for me."
 
Semple had a GPA of 4.0 or higher all four years and earned 2013-14 Academic All-American with honors recognition. He plans to be a pre-Med major with hopes of becoming a Sports Medicine Physician. He will begin classes this fall.
