LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola's slugging shortstop
Julian Jarrard is named the Golden State Athletic Conference Player of the Week for his performances between April 6-12.
Â
This is Jarrard's first conference weekly honor and comes on the heels of his second Biola Athlete of the Week award.
Â
He hit .438 while leading Biola to a 3-1 week in contests against Bethesda and Arizona Christian. He tied for the team-lead in hits (7) and bashed three homeruns to drive in 10 runs in the four contests.
Â
Jarrard's homerun hitting has been on a torrid pace as of late, getting four in the last eight games to up his season total to 12. He's getting a big fly once per every 13 at bats to this point in the year, leading to a No. 4 spot in the NAIA in homers.
Â
He slugged 1.063 this week to wrap his arms around this conference honor, accumulating 17 total bases off of four extra-base hits. He even stole one base during the Eagles' 22-1 defeat of Arizona Christian.
Â
His hitting over the last week brought his season batting average up to .309. It had only been above .300 for one other game this season.
Â
Jarrard and Biola looks to continue it's strong play with a single game at CSU San Marcos on Tuesday this week and a Friday-Saturday series at home against San Diego Christian.Â
